- : just out of curiosity, for what reason did you need the AGA hw docs ?
-
- At the time, I had to write C= a letter justifying why I needed them!
- In short, I (well, we, being Weathermine Software) were planning
- a vertically scrolling shoot-'em-up, and we wanted to do something pretty
- spectacular. I felt that the extra speed gained by bypassing the OS to a
- certain degree would prove a great benefit, and so it has - XP8 is now
- finished. It makes full use of the fmode high datafetch, particularly
- with the 64 bit wide sprites....
- I don't believe it could have been done without the AGA register details.
-
- I probably should point out that the game leaves the OS intact and running
- - you can jump out of the game to workbench should you wish....
- It uses DOS library, etc, even for loading during the game (without
- any noticeable jerking of the scrolling :), allocates resources etc...
-
- (I'm hoping to avoid another OS vs hardware hacking thread here...please)
-
- : : : Too bad C= caved in.

- : : Now that says a lot about AT :)

- : NOT! :)
